19. maja tego roku wybrałam się na targ konopny Kanaba Fair. Chciałam zobaczyć co tam będzie ciekawego, jednak najbardziej zależało mi na wykładzie i pokazie budowania z konopi. Niczym się nie rozczarowałam. Targ był mały, ale gościli na nim ciekawi wystawcy i panowała przyjemna, luźna atmosfera. Wykład był świetny, Marcin Krzyżkowiak z CannArch przekazał bardzo dużo informacji opartych na przykładach z życia, czyli to co lubię najbardziej. Następnie odbył się kolejny wykład oraz pokaz produkcji betonu konopnego (Na prawdę! Bryła powstała tam na miejscu!) zorganizowany przez Piotra Jastrzębskiego z Podlaskich Konopi. Dowiedziałam się bardzo dużo na temat budowania z konopi i wreszcie zebrałam się do tego, aby uporządkować zdobyte informacje i jak najlepiej je przedstawić.
Zacznijmy od samego początku, czyli jak to się stało, że w ogóle ktoś zainteresował się betonem konopnym? Otóż około 30 lat temu we Francji szukano dobrego materiału, który skutecznie ociepli ceglane budynki od środka, jednocześnie nie zamykając przepuszczalności powietrza. Ważne było również, aby dany materiał bezproblemowo łączył się z murami z gliny i słomy. Okazało się, że beton konopny jest idealnym kandydatem spełniającym wszystkie te warunki.
Dziś na nowo go odkrywamy. Okazuje się, że nawet w tej formie konopie dają z siebie wiele dobrego. Beton konopny jest bardzo lekkim i trwałym materiałem budowlanym. Do tego zapewnia budynkowi doskonałą wentylację, tzw. „oddychające ściany”. Jest również odporny na insekty - zawiera wapno, więc nic w środku nie zacznie sobie żyć. Beton konopny jest również bardzo efektywny energetycznie - doskonale magazynuje ciepło i oddaje w późniejszych momentach. Ciepło jest akumulowane w ścianie i uwalniane powoli, co skutkuje stałą temperaturą w domu. Konopne ściany są również świetnym izolatorem akustycznym. Jest też dobra wiadomość dla projektantów - beton konopny jest bardzo plastyczny, więc kształt ściany ogranicza tylko ich wyobraźnia. Część osób pewnie myśli sobie „świetnie, ale przecież wystarczy rzucić zapałkę i cały dom spłonie w sekundę!”. Otóż nie - beton konopny jest niepalny, nie rozprzestrzenia ognia. W miejscu, które zostało podpalone widać jedynie ciemne wgłębienie. Bardzo mnie to zaskoczyło, ale widziałam na własne oczy, więc na prawdę tak jest :)
Beton konopny jest nie tylko zaskakująco dobrym materiałem budowlanym, działa również korzystnie na mieszkańców. Istnieje coś takiego jak syndrom chorych budynków. Jest to kombinacja dolegliwości występujących na skutek przebywania w określonym miejscu. W przypadku domów wykonanych z betonu konopnego mieszkańcom nie dokuczają żadne dolegliwości, może wręcz nastąpić wzrost produktywności użytkowników budynku. W takim razie najlepiej by było, jakby wszystkie miejsca pracy były budowane z betonu konopnego! :)
Beton konopny jest również bardzo dobry dla środowiska. Tu pojawia się kolejne pojęcie - ślad węglowy, czyli całkowita ilość gazów cieplarnianych wyemitowanych w cyklu życia produktu. W przypadku betonu konopnego ilość ta może być nawet ujemna! To prawdziwy ewenement - większość materiałów budowlanych emituje duże ilości dwutlenku węgla, natomiast beton konopny go pobiera!
Podsumowując najważniejsze zalety stosowania betonu konopnego:

Jak wygląda konstrukcja takiego domu? Zaczynając od podstaw: budynek nie wymaga pełnych fundamentów, wystarczą fundamenty punktowe. Nie można jednak całkowicie odpuścić fundamentów - budynek musi być odizolowany od wilgoci ziemi, w przeciwnym razie zacznie się rozkładać. Aby powstał bloczek konopny należy zmieszać paździerze konopne z wapnem, oraz dodać wody. Składniki miesza się w stosunku 3:1:1. Tak powstałą masę należy wlać do formy (szalunku) i poczekać chwilę aż zaschnie. Nie trwa to długo - pierwsze wiązanie następuje od razu po wypełnieniu i zdjęciu formy. Dosycha już na konstrukcji, dlatego najlepiej unikać budowania konopnego domu jesienią i zimą. Nie ma problemów z łączeniem bloczków konopnych, można do tego użyć np. mleczka wapiennego. Na budynek o powierzchni 100m2 na same ściany potrzeba około 10t. Taki dom można postawić w 2-3 dni. Należy również zwrócić uwagę, aby paździerze zawierały jak najmniej pyłu, gdyż jest on wrogiem wiązania. Włókien również powinno być jak najmniej. Koszt wybudowania domu z konopi jest porównywalny do budowania z tradycyjnych materiałów.
Czas na przykłady konopnych domów. Pierwsze takie budynki mieszkalne powstały 2 lata temu. Domy z Hemp Homes Australia przynoszą oszczędności wysokości 50-80% jedynie na eksploatacji. Centrum dystrybucyjne browaru Adram w Wielkiej Brytanii zostało zbudowane ze 100 tys. bloczków konopnych i przynosi £49 tys. rocznych oszczędności również jedynie na eksploatacji. W 2016 roku w Teoderowie powstał dom konopny projektu Piotra Soloweja we współpracy z Podlaskimi Konopami. Znajduje się wśród 60ha konopi siewnej i ma ściany grubości 25cm. Aktualnie trwają prace nad domem konopnym budowanym w Polsce we współpracy z CannArch.
